I try to take the dogs on an off leash hike once a week and with the help of Dana it's really not that hard to accomplish.
Yesterday we went on the Pipeline Trail in Millcreek Canyon and had a blast.
Here are the pups in the car as we drove to meet Dana. Enna always sits on the arm rest between the front seats and Makoa was just too excited to stay in the backseat by himself.
The dogs were so happy to be off their leashes in a new area and ran up the trail.
There weren't as many dogs there as there are at Tanner, but we did meet a few.
Whenever a dog was coming down the trail Makoa would run to meet him and then jump on his face to play. He really is my little social butterfly.
On any hike the dogs (mostly Enna) are so silly, they dont want to go around the person in front because then they'd have to go in the deep snow so they ride right on the heels until you step aside or something really grabs their interest.
Enna and Makoa will always take off down the trail but I never worry too much because they always come back to check in. Here's Enna making sure I haven't died from a heart attack on the way up the trail.
The first part of the hike was pretty steep and required a lot of breaks but the view once you got to the top was worth it.
At the spot where we finally decided to turn around was a little clearing down from the trail. John threw snowballs down into it and the dogs would chase after.
Towards the end of the hike John ran down the steep parts and the dogs would fun after him, but Enna always had to run back up to Dana and I to make sure we were still coming. John would then call her name and she's zip off down the trail again! That little pup is so fast! I need to get her in agility or fast ball, we'd always win!
Finally at the end we were all tuckered out and ready for a nap. Luckily the dogs got to take one right away.
I absolutely love being able to take the dogs to off leash places and I know they really love it too! If anyone wants to come along on a hike just let me know! We'd be happy to have you!
